Hannah, Elizabeth and I were blessed to photograph a beautiful Catholic wedding a couple of weeks back at St. Ignatius Martyr in South Austin with a reception over at the Thistle Cafe. We were asked to be respectful of the Sanctuary during the service and stay clear of that area and we needed to photograph without flash to accommodate the Father’s desire. This set of constraints can complicate the life of a wedding photographer for sure, but with our longer lenses and higher performance cameras we had the proper equipment and experience to capture exactly what was needed. The first picture below is in the middle of the service and has only ambient lighting in the room, and the photograph was taken from the choir & piano section of the church.

A couple of my favorite shots included some of the beautiful stained glass windows that the church features. These were only lit up before the actual ceremony, so we only photographed the dress and the groom; here is one of the groom and his best man:

Of course, what wedding would be complete if we didn’t work to get a picture at the first dance of the bride and groom where they are lit from behind; it’s one of our most favorite shots to capture. Here’s one from this reception that we love:

We grabbed a couple of bride and groom portraits at the Cafe in-between events; here is one of my favorites just because of the groom’s expression…
