I’ve been quiet for the past few weeks, occupied with several things. Last week I attended the Texas School of Professional Photography in Addison; this was my third week-long class to take over the past four years. I have to say, Texas School has been the single most helpful tool that I have used to grow my skills as a professional photographer. This particular class was on artistic composition and structure, focusing on the post production of multiple images into a single photograph. The artist who taught specializes in this form of photography and I find this style very motivating. The general concept is to either pre-visualize a total image and then photograph the various components that comprise the final image, or take a set of images and create a story around them as they are put into a single image. Either way, it’s a very interesting addition to my capabilities and I am looking forward to refining and growing in this area.

I’ve worked a little bit on some images we took back in the winter with Gabby, one of our fantasic high-school seniors and created this learning piece. It is just an exploration of the mechanical techniques required to pull this sort of thing together, but it shows the basics. My plan is to work, refine, test, experiment and redo so I can stretch my artistic output.

Let me know what you think!
