J.J. Seabrook Bridge
I was blessed to be a part of the Martin Luther King day celebration this year, photographing both the speeches as well as the march from the MLK statue on the UT campus down MLK Blvd, across I35 and over near Huston-Tillotson University in East Austin. A very cool celebration of a very important man in our history. The part I was specifically focused on was the newly-commissioned name on the bridge that spans I35; it was recently renamed the J. J. Seabrook bridge in honor of the man who, in 1975, made an impassioned plea to the Austin City Council to ensure that the whole of 19th Street was...

I support the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center with photography and time, and just this past week went to photograph their Georgetown fund raiser held at the Georgetown City Lights theater. A great group of people came to help support the Center, and I captured this photograph of the board of directors: The event seemed to be a great success for the Center, with everyone enjoying the evening and the movie. The theater was wonderful and really helps the Center out by hosting the event. I’ll be at the Leander Movie Night this week as well; I know the Center would love to...

At the DSACT event we photographed a few weeks back, I happened to capture a picture of a little girl standing next to this free-floating bubble. And, she just happened to be holding her hand in exactly the right way to lead me to a visual conclusion, which I present here with a little help from Photoshop. Now I’m going to have to go create just such a photograph on purpose, just for fun!

Just a couple of weeks back we were honored to be a part of the Calendar Gala put on by the Down Syndrome of Central Texas. The main event was held at the La Paloma Event Center, which is very nice and allows the families and kids to participate in several ways. There was a dance floor, so the kids could enjoy an Elvis impersonator and dance or sing, as well as a photo booth, a bubble machine and tables and chairs around a great big lawn to play on. It was great fun for everyone. We participated last year as well, and as then the gala was a wonderful blessing to the kids as well as everyone...

Papa and his friend Phil went to the Samuel Summers Sizzle Show & Shine Car Show last week, and I got to edit a few of their images. These two old timers were my favorites from the shoot:
Read MoreRelay for Life
Once a year local American Cancer Society groups put on a Relay for Life to raise money and awareness for the ACS. This is my second year to photograph at the Hutto Relay. The effort was hampered, but only a little, by the threatening weather that evening, but the Triple Crown Event Center came to the rescue and allowed the event to move indoors at the very last minute. I think that was a huge blessing the Relay overall; no one had to slog wet and cold through the night around the track. I was there for the kickoff and through the Luminaria portion of the event and was encouraged as usual by...
